The Dragon Returns to Newcastle Emlyn - Mount Only

According to local legend in Newcastle Emlyn, a winged creature known as a Wyvern flew over the town during a fair. It landed on the castle wall and promptly fell asleep! A soldier lay a red shawl on the river and hid nearby. When the dragon awoke it was attracted by the shawl and flew down to the rifer to snatch it. The soldier leapt out and speared the dragon and it fell into the river Teifi. Its venom turned the water green and its blood poisoned the river killing all the fish. It died in a deep pool in the river known as Pwll Dafi William. This was apparently the last appearance of a dragon in Wales.
